The music picture above is of Maynard Ferguson. Maynard tragically passed away 8/23/2006 at the age of 78. He was one of my biggest influences and one of the reasons I became a fan of jazz music. Discussing Maynard's death a friend wrote to me, "I will never come close, but enjoy the journey." This was in reference to Maynard's musical talent, but I think it is a good motto for all of us.
