Luke Darrup is a sophomore at Mount Carmel Area this year and currently resides in Kulpmont.
Luke is on the distinguished honor roll, is part of the national honor society, and is president of the sophomore class. He plays saxophone in marching, symphonic, jazz, and pep bands and is a band librarian. Luke is also part of the Interact Club, is in senior high chorus, competes in Odyssey of the Mind, and altar serves at Divine Redeemer parish in Mount Carmel. He portrayed Roger in last year’s high school musical “Grease,” and portrays Emmett Forrest in this year’s production of“Legally Blonde.” Luke also has the distinction of placing first at the post level in this year’s VFW Voice of Democracy audio essay contest.
When not working at the Knoebels Gift Shops during the summer, Luke enjoys listening to music, video gaming, and learning new things. He enjoys watching his favorite sports teams, the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Dodgers. Beside the saxophone, Luke also plays piano and drum set.
Luke has a Shih Tzu / Maltese mix dog, Ginger, and a cat, Tiger, at home. He enjoys jamming to classic rock with them, and if he decides to go to college for a job in the medical field as he would like to, his jamming time would be cut substantially. Luke decided to take the News Reporting class because he is interested in learning the ways of broadcast and journalism. He expects an informative, productive, and enjoyable 2013-2014 school year.
